Притча о сеятеле, словам которой, братья и сестры, мы внимали сегодня – одна из самых известных в писании Нового Завета. Образы ее были истолкованы Самим Спасителем. Объяснены они были и святыми отцами Церкви.Не раз к ее образам обращались и философы, и художники, и писатели. Но часто, привлеченные ее ясностью и кажущейся простотой, они по-своему перетолковывали слова сегодняшнего рассказа, искажали его.

Весь мир есть одна долгая притча, составленная из бесчисленного количества притч. Как всякая притча имеет конец, так преходящ и мир сей, и все то, что в мире. Но духовное ядро, скрывающееся в скорлупе всех притч, остается крепким и не гниет. Люди, которые этими притчами питают лишь очи и уши, остаются голодными духом. Ибо дух питается ядром притч сих, а они не в состоянии добраться до этого ядра.

Если вы поставите людям вопрос: «Что важнее — трава или человек?», — то получите единогласный ответ, что человек важнее. Но на деле люди признают, что важнее трава, так как жертвуют и своей и чужой жизнью ради травы.

Как мертвый ни на что окружающее не отзывается, так делай и ты: хвалят — молчи, и бранят — молчи, и прибыль получишь — молчи, сыт — молчи и голоден — молчи. Будь таков ко всему внешнему.

We are not pessimists, and we are not prophets of doom and gloom. However, we are also not prophets of cheerfulness and positive-thinking. Our Lord instructed us to discern the "signs of the times". Thus, it is always our task to be "critical" of modern society. We can not be members of a large group or movement, or any fad or mob. The only ultimate allegiance we have, obviously, is the Body of Christ. That allegiance alone determines our philosophy, our outlook and our ethic.

"In this warfare I have come to know the immensity of God's long-suffering to us; for He alone knows all the infirmity of our fallen nature, which He mercifully took upon Himself, except for sin (I Peter2:22; Isaiah 53:9; I John 3:5; 4:10; Hebrews 4:15), and therefore He commanded us 'seventy times seven' times to forgive the sins (St. Matt. 18:22) of those who have fallen into them; and He has surrounded and continued to surround me everyday with the joys of salvation from sin in peace and expansion of the heart. The Divine mercy which I have experienced and the perpetual nearness to me of the Lord confirm me in the hope of my eternal salvation and in that of those who follow and hear me to salvation, according to the word of the Scriptures, 'Behold I and the children which God hath given me'"

Thus, the measuring stick of relationships to others is simplicity and sincerity, good will, and love for all—this is the best side of relationships to others. But not rarely, the nature of relationships to others is cunning, suspicion, dislike, rudeness, envy, extreme selfishness, self-seeking, partiality, vanity, ambition, vainglory, sensuality, or extreme haughtiness; that is, a high opinion of one's self, which seeks to humiliate others.

Halloween undermines the very basis of the Church, which was founded on the blood of martyrs who had refused, by giving up their lives, to partake in any form of idolatry. The holy Church must take a firm stand in counteracting any such (pagan) events. Christ taught us that God is the judge in all our actions and beliefs and that we are either FOR GOD or AGAINST GOD. There is no neutral or middle of the road approach.
