Человеческой душе свойственна потребность веры. И суеверие есть попытка удовлетворить эту потребность, только не верой, явленной в Божественном Откровении, – ведь это требует огромных личных усилий, душевных, волевых и даже интеллектуальных. А когда нет подлинной веры в Бога, то богом становится что-то более близкое и понятное, на что можно полагаться в обыденной жизни. Так возникает идолопоклонство перед вещами и священный страх перед народными преданиями.

Преподобный Амвросий вразумлял, что и в самих подвигах нужна большая осторожность. Приехал однажды к нам в скит некий молодой человек, жаждущий спасения. Приходит к батюшке Амвросию, прося дать ему молитвенное правило.

С помощью документального кино, которое в простой, краткой и наглядной форме рассказывает нам о культуре, истории, личностях и природе, человек получает огромное количество информации. Очевидно, поэтому в разных странах все больший интерес проявляется к кинофестивалям документального кино, а также кино христианского. Но широкий прокат такие документальные фильмы имеют только в столице. Поэтому важно, когда появляется инициатива познакомить зрителей и в других городах с лучшими духовными образцами кинематографа.

А вот приходилось сталкиваться: говорит (пишет) человек о Церкви ― горячно, гневно, в чем-то обличает… Но нет при этом чувства, что он ее ненавидит. И только невольно задумываешься: а почему он так горячится?

We have all been called here today to speak on behalf of our Lord and Savior, about His commandments to us. Speaking specifically of the 10 Commandments. But what we must ask ourselves today is “why?” Why did God choose these specific ten things to ask of us? Why are these things singled out more than any other laws? We do not ask because we feel the need to second guess our Lord, or doubt His laws.

The great multitude and the disciples who followed Jesus in today’s gospel, the 8th Sunday of Matthew 14:14-22, certainly knew the story of the Israelites and the Manna in the wilderness. So when Christ takes the five loaves and two fish and feeds 5000 men, not counting women and children (vv.17,21) the people must have begun to understand that He was indeed the Son of God, the same God who fed the Israelites hundreds of years before.

Believers of the Russian Orthodox Church on the British Isles prayerfully commemorate victims of the terrorist attack at the Domodedovo airport in Moscow, which claimed the lives of 35 people and pray for recovery of the injured.

The head of the Russian Association for Islamic Consensus' Executive Committee called for stricter punishment for terrorists.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch sent condolences to His Holiness Patriarch Kirril of Moscow and All Russia and to President of the Russian Federation Mr. Dmitry Medvedev regarding the yesterday's tragic terroristic attack in Moscow.

On 26 January 2011, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia held a requiem litiya at his home chapel of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God for the victims of the terrorist act at the Domodedovo airport.
