A new Russian-language book has been published in Jerusalem devoted to the Russian presence in the Holy Land. Written by Deacon Alexander Zanemontz, the book contains three hundred pages of text, hundreds of black-and-white archival and contemporary color illustrations and graphcs by the Moscow artist Ilya Viktorov.
A holy cross was set up at the bottom of the Black Sea this Sunday on the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross not far from St. George Monastery, the oldest in Crimea (Sevastopol).
For nearly 100 years the contemporary movement for the unification of Christianity has enjoyed the involvement of the Orthodox. Yet, despite the objections of many Orthodox Christians, the divisions among them which have developed on account of this participation, and the apparent lack of real progress toward the desired goal, there has never been a critical Pan-Orthodox examination of the phenomenon and Orthodox participation in it. This historic conference, sponsored by the School of Pastoral Theology of the University of Thessaloniki and the Society of Orthodox Studies, promises to fill this gap.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent a letter to the Primate of the Albanian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania, concerning the destruction of the Church of St Athanasius in the village of Dhërmi and the attack on Rev. Christos Pappas, a cleric of the Church of St Charalambos in Sarandë.
