The Zlatoust (Chrysostom) Monastery, built in the 14th century, was one of the oldest in Moscow. However, it was closed in 1918 by the godless authorities, and by 1933, all the monastery buildings but one had been demolished.
The monastery asked for prayers yesterday, saying Met. Longin’s health is deteriorating.
The buildings purchased by St. George’s were under construction and authorities believe the construction may have caused the flames.
Alexander Drabinko is behind the seizure, Fr. Nikolai says, noting that he has repeatedly sent a fake priest to speak to the canonical priest.
Armed security forces surrounded and searched his monastery last month, scaring the orphans who live there.
