Abbess Parasceva (Rodimtsev) Canonized by Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On June 11, 2010, in the Monastery of St. Parasceva (in the village of Topolevka, Belogorsky region of the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea), the holy ascetic of piety, Abbess Parasceva (Rodimstev) of Toplovka was canonized, reports Patriarchia.ru. St. Parasceva lived during the late nineteenth–early twentieth centuries.

Divine Liturgy was led by His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All the Ukraine, with clergy of the Crimea concelebrating.

Great numbers of the faithful gathered from all over the Crimea and other areas of the Ukraine.

The resolution to number Abbess Parasceva among the host of locally-canonized saints was accepted at the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on March 25, 2009.

The Synod has accepted the icon of the Saint as well as the troparion and kontakion to St. Parasceva of Toplovska, and confirmed the acceptance of her remains as holy relics.

St. Parasceva of Toplovska will be commemorated on November 20/December 3.
