Member of al Qaeda detained in Moscow

Moscow, January 22, 2014

A member of the al Qaeda terrorist network has been detained in Moscow as a result of the joint action of the Federal Migration Service and the Federal Security Service, reported head of the Federal Migration Service's Moscow department Olga Kirillova (according to Interfax).

At the board of the Federal Migration Service in Moscow on Wednesday, Olga Kirillova informed that in 2013, a citizen of Egypt had appealed to FMS and had asked for asylum in Russia.

"In the course of verification it emerged that he was a member of al Qaeda," said Olga Kirillova.
