Работа над иконой – это сотворчество художника с Богом. Человек один не напишет молельный образ: в ликах будут читаться человеческие черты, появятся характеры.

Когда другой ругает меня, а я ему не отвечаю, сдерживаюсь, разве это не труд духовный? Это труд. А когда другой надоедлив, а я терплю? Тоже.

Даже и далекие от христианства люди слышали, что оно учит любви. Без любви оно немыслимо, потому что в основе его — акт величайшей жертвенной любви Бога к Своему созданию — и потому что Спаситель завещал ученикам Своим подражать Ему Самому в любви друг к другу (см.: Ин. 13, 34). Но есть такое проявление любви людей друг к другу, как дружба. Впрочем, всегда ли это действительно проявление любви? Что значит дружить? Кто для нас друг?

Modern thought, including modern Protestant thought, tends to think of “reality” as consisting of only one kind of thing. Working near the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Hebrew University of Jerusalem archaeologist Dr. Eilat Mazar has unearthed the earliest alphabetical written text ever uncovered in the city. The inscription is engraved on a large pithos, a neckless ceramic jar found with six others at the Ophel excavation site. According to Dr. Mazar, the inscription, in the Canaanite language, is the only one of its kind discovered in Jerusalem and an important addition to the city’s history.

The Ukrainian government has decided to give to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (the Patriarchate of Moscow) for free use 75 objects of the national preserve—the Kiev Caves Lavra (Monastery) of the Dormition. The respective decree was approved at the meeting of the cabinet.
