Orthodox Church consecrated in Manchester, England

Manchester, England, March 14, 2011

On 12th March, Saturday of the first week of the Great Lent, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh (Moscow Patriarchate) celebrated the Consecration of the Curch of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God in Manchester, belonging to the Patriarchal stavropegic parish of the Russian Orthodox Church. On the eve, Vladyka served the Matins with a Polyelios at the church in Manchester, reports the website of the diocese of Surouzh.

Archbishop Anatoly of Kerch, Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of Sourozh, representatives of the clergy of the Greek, Antioch, and Romanian Churches, Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia and clergy and laity of the Diocese of Sourozh took part in the celebration. After the Consecration of the church there was a festive procession with the holy relics which were afterwards enclose into the Holy Altar.

After the festive Divine Liturgy, at the Reception, organised by the Parish in Manchester, the representatives of the clergy greeted Archbishop Elisey and the Parish on behalf of the hierarchs of their Churches.
