Diveyevo Convent. The Holy Trinity Cathedral in the foreground, Transfiguration Cathedral in the background. The Annunciation Cathedral will be directly behind the Holy Trinity Cathedral. |
The completion of this church will mark the fulfillment of a prophecy made by St. Seraphim of Sarov.
The single-domed Annunciation Cathedral will be sixty meters (197 feet) tall, and directly behind the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the convent. It will be built on high ground, and will thus become one of the tallest buildings in the town of Diveyevo.
The construction site is already prepared. Before the Bolshevik revolution, the Tikhvin Church stood on that spot. That church was built after St. Seraphim's repose, and as Diveyevo tradition has it, was built in disobedience to St. Seraphim's instructions. During Soviet times, the church was destroyed, and a school and cafeteria were built from its bricks.
