On 21 February the Moroccan burst into the church in the centre of Strasbourg and, having overturned about 15 statues, placed a Muslim prayer rug and a copy of Koran on the ambo.
“He chalked ‘Allah Akbar’ in Arabic on the statues and put a copy of Koran on the ambo,” recalled a priest from the church.
The offender has been identified at the mosque in Strasbourg where they reported that he had on a number of occasions been caught stealing several items, including an imam's prayer rug.
