Dear Matushka!
I do not refuse to pray for anyone, but I am not fit to be a spiritual father. I am old, weak, and now completely ill. Will the Lord allow me to live a little longer on the earth, or has the time come to go home? God knows. I rejoice over everything, and am thankful for everything.
I remember S. and you. Your cross is heavy, but it is all from God. It seems to be what’s necessary. We have only one care—that the Lord would save us by His mercy.
Repentance every minute
Dear in the Lord T.!
I received your letter and will fulfill your request for prayer. May God give you patience in bearing your heavy life’s cross; but I cannot prompt you on what you should be repenting of. God’s magnificence plunges us monastics into repentance every minute, and not just every day.
Perhaps you are asking God in your prayers for something that would not be conducive to salvation. Do not ask that your saving cross be amended or cancelled, but rather for God’s help and strength to carry it unto salvation.
May God give you wisdom!
