Large protest actions, organized by the “Manifestation for All” (“la Manif pour Tous”) movement, are taking place in both Paris and Bordeaux, reports RIA-Novosti. In the capital a column of many thousands of demonstrators carrying banners marched from the northwest outskirts of the city to the Montparnasse Square on the opposite bank of the Seine.
Tens of thousands of same-sex “marriage’” opponents again took to the streets of French cities, this time to express their protest against surrogate motherhood and artificial fertilization for same-sex couples.
The action is held under the slogan: “A Human Being is Not a Commodity to be Sold!” Thus the movement activists are demonstrating against surrogate motherhood. In addition to this, they condemn plans to permit lesbian couples in France to resort to alternative reproductive technologies.
Meanwhile, two days before the rallies, the French Prime Minister Manuel Walls again stated that surrogate motherhood would not be legalized in the country. The legalization of alternative reproductive technologies for female same-sex couples was planned to pass together with the same-sex “marriage” law, but it was then adjourned.
The legalization of same-sex “marriages” was one of the pre-election pledges of the socialist president Francois Hollande. The respective law was adopted on May 18, 2013. Discussion of the document at the French parliament was met with opposition protests, in which several million people took part.
