Sevastopol, April 8, 2015
Archpriest Alexander Bondarenko, Assistant to the Commander for Work amongst Believers in the Black Sea Fleet (BSF), will deliver Holy Light to Simferopol by a special flight on Pascha Day, which this year is celebrated by the Russian Orthodox Church on April 12.
“Then the Light will be brought to combat ships as well as to the Fleet’s coastal forces stationed on the territory of the Crimean Federal District,” reported on Wednesday Captain First Rank Vyacheslav Trukhachev, chief of BSF’s information support department, to Interfax.
Later the solemn meeting of the Holy Fire will take place at the BSF headquarters, where an icon lamp near the icon of Holy Righteous Admiral Theodore Ushakov will be lit from it. Then in a cross procession (in which officers of departments and services of BSF headquarters as well as the personnel of BSF subunits will take part) Holy Fire will be delivered to the Church of Holy Archangel Michael where a service will be celebrated.
The tradition of delivering of Holy Fire to Crimea and Sevastopol by BSF representative has existed since 2008 and is carried out with support of St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation.
