A delegation of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations has begun its visit to Colombia on August 18, 2010, on the invitation of the Colombia Ambassador in Russia, H.E. Diego Jose Tobon Echeverri. It includes Hegumen Philip Riabykh, DECR vice-chairman, Rev. Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for the far abroad, Mr. M. Palacio and Mr. M. Kiselev of the DECR secretariat for the far abroad, and Mr. K. Peregudin, assistant to the DECR vice-chairman.
The trip is made with the support of the Russian World Foundation, Russian embassy in Colombia and Colombian embassy in Moscow.
The delegation will meet representatives of the Colombian political circles and the public, as well as Archbishop Jesus Ruben Salazar Gomez of Bogota.
On August 19, the Day of the Holy Transfiguration, Hegumen Philip and Father Sergiy Zvonarev will celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Protecting Veil, Patriarchate of Constantinople, the only Orthodox church in Bogota.
