A Priest killed in Tyumen

On August 15, in the Russian city of Tyumen--the same day that Priest Paul Adelheim from the Diocese of Pskov was murdered--another Priest, Igumen Makary (Loshkarev), reposed in the Lord. Fr. Makary had earlier served in Surgut, northern Siberia.

According to SIA-PRESS, the priest was struck with a heavy object the entranceway to an apartment. He was in a coma for several days. This information has been confirmed by Rector of the Church of St. George the Victory-Bearer Fr Antony Isakov.

According to the "In memory of Igumen Makary (Loshkarev)" group in the "VKontakte" social network, Igumen Makary (Loshkarev) was found on July 24 at 9 a.m. in the street with a severe head injury. The passersby called for an ambulance. The priest was in coma for 12 days; he was operated on but died on August 5, not having regained consciousness.

On August 8, in the Church of Three Holy Hierarchs in Tyumen, the funeral of Igumen Makary took place. Igumen Makary has been buried in the cemetery at Verkhny Bor, next to his mother.

Fr. Makary is well known to graduates of the Tobolsk Theological Seminary where he taught. He is remembered by students in Surgut as well. The priest was 44 years old.
