Hong Kong, October 15, 2013
On the feast of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God, with the blessing of his Eminence Metropolitan Vadim of Irkutsk, an icon of Saint Innocent of Irkutsk with a portion of his Holy Relics was given to the parish of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Hong Kong.
The icon was delivered to Hong Kong by the cleric of the Diocese of Irkutsk Archpriest Alexander Abiduev who participated in prayer services with the clergy of the Hong Kong parish on the day of this festive event, reports Pravoslavie v Kitae ("Orthodoxy in China").
St. Innocent is the Patron-Saint of the Orthodox Church in China. He was the first Orthodox Bishop to be appointed head of the mission in Beijing. Several churches in China are dedicated to this Saint: a Church in the city of Erguna in the Inner Mongolia autonomous district, and a church in Beijing, on the territory of the Russian embassy (Beiguan).
