The first course to be offered online will be Orthodox Eucharistic Liturgies and Liturgical Theology, running from January to April 2016. It will be taught by the archdiocese's Rev Fr Geoffrey Ready, the co-director of the school of theology, who is teaching the same course on site during the winter/spring term. Fr Geoffrey is attached to Christ the Saviour Orthodox Cathedral, serving the English-language community dedicated to Saint Innocent.
Students anywhere in the world with access to an internet connection will be able to register and take the online course for graduate credit or as auditors. The credits may be used towards the Master of Theological Studies (MTS) or Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree at Trinity College, a member institution of the Toronto School of Theology, federated with the University of Toronto. The credits may also be transferred to graduate school theology programmes at other universities.
Over time most courses at the Orthodox School of Theology at Trinity College will be offered over the internet, allowing students to complete remotely an entire MTS degree including the Diploma in Orthodox and Eastern Christian Studies. MDiv students may also complete most of their course work remotely, though currently at least one year's worth of study must be done on site for the MDiv degree.
For more information about the new online course offering, or to enquire about registering for the Orthodox Eucharistic Liturgies and Liturgical Theology course in January or any other information on the MTS and MDiv programmes, please contact Fr Geoffrey Ready.
