Monastery, founded by Schema-Archimandrite Zosima (Sokur), shelters refugees

Nikolskoye village, August 26, 2014

The St. Basil’s Monastery and the St. Nicolas Convent in Nikolskoye village of the Volnovakha district have become a shelter for the people who were forced to flee from war in various corners of the Donetsk region, reports Donbass Pravoslavny.

The monastery needs help.

Here you can find residents of Donetsk, Horlivka, Mospino, Snezhnoye and other war-torn towns of Donbass, who fled the bombings. 60 refugees are currently living at the monastery. However, every day their number is increasing. Nearly a half of them are children, youngest being is 1.5 month old.

The monastery brethren do what they can to help the people who arrived here. The refugees are now being accommodated at the monastery hospice, in the sisters’ building, and in the almshouse. In the monastery people gradually come to their senses, forget the horrors of war they experienced and obtain hope. It is said that their daily communication with monks, attendance of services, and mutual support help them with this.

Today the monastery refugees are in want of warm clothes and blankets, Pampers for children, soap accessories, detergent powders, foodstuffs (sugar, butter, cereals, flour and so on).

Everybody who can help somehow is requested to call +380999450780 (Nun Barbara). The bank account number for transfer of monetary funds: Укрсиббанк — 26255007254346 (Morozova A.).
