Two bishops consecrated a village church in honor of anchorite on site of his hermitage
The saint was a stylite (a pillar ascetic, like a number of saints of the old times) – he lived in a hollow of a tree trunk. This pine is kept in the chapel not far from the surviving Church of the Protection to this day. According to tradition, St. Hilarion already in his lifetime foresaw for what purpose one or another visitor would come to him and with which passions they were plagued. The life of this man of God was all unceasing labors, vigil, prayer, Divine contemplation, abstinence, meekness, humility and wholehearted faithful love for God.
