Nun Juliana (Anastasia Rahlina) in the world, formerly a journalist for pravoslavie.ru, reposed in the Lord on Saturday after a lengthy battle with cancer, reports pravoslavie.ru.
Anastasia was seriously ill in the last year of her life. In preparation for death, she took monastic vows in December with the name of Juliana in honor of St. Juliana of Vyazma and Novotorg.
She was blessed to commune of the Holy Body and Blood of Christ in the hospital on the eve of her repose, Foma reports.
“Mother Juliana endured everything with faith and hope in the mercy of God. She communed of the holy Mysteries of Christ to her last breath… [God] allowed her not only to believe in Him, but to suffer for Him. And Mother Juliana’s suffering was like the suffering of the great martyrs,” a message posted on Mother Juliana’s Facebook page reads.
She was a long-time colleague of pravoslavie.ru, an editor, and a wonderful author. Many of her works were among the most popular with the readers of pravoslavie.ru. Several of her works have been translated into English and published on orthochristian.com.
Her funeral will be held tomorrow morning in Moscow.
We ask your prayers for the newly-departed handmaiden of God Nun Juliana. May her memory be eternal!
