The St. Juvenaly Orthodox Mission in Hawaii has placed donation information and links on their website to help Orthodox Christians suffering from the recent catastrophe in Japan. Pay Pal and credit cards can be used to make charitable donations. The page also provides information on the The IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities), which is collecting funds for more general humanitarian work.

Dear Friends,
With the blessing of His Grace, our Bishop Benjamin, and the support of our treasurer, we are now collecting funds to go directly to the Orthodox Church of Japan. These gifts are an offering of love from our people and parishes around the world to the Church of Japan to help directly with the specific needs of the churches – rebuilding, aid for families, and other assistance.
The Church of Japan was founded in 1861 by St. Nicholas. The Church currently has 2 bishops, about 20 priests and 67 communities (churches and missions) throughout the country, and fewer than 10,000 people. Look for updates from Fr. George Matsushima on the Western Diocese’s website at http://www.orthodox-jp.com/westjapan/.
With the exception of Paypal transaction and wire transfer fees, 100% of money collected will be wired to the Orthodox Church of Japan. We can provide you with a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. Clicking the Paypal button on this page will automatically designate your gift for this purpose, and you do not need a PayPal account to donate online with a credit or debit card.
We will be accepting donations for Japan through May 21st. We don’t have a particular donation goal or target in mind, but will send whatever we can!
You can also send a check, clearly marked for Japan to:
Church of Japan Assistance
St. Juvenaly Orthodox Mission
PO Box 4631
Kailua Kona, HI 96745
We can also provide information for direct wire-transfer to Japan.
Please see the Contact page if you need to get in touch with us.
— Fr. John
