Several dozen miracles registered in Russia after venerating the Belt of the Mother of God

Novo-Ogaryovo, November 28, 2011

Archimandrite Ephraim, Abbot of the Vatopedi Monastery on Athos, from which the Belt of the Holy Virgin was brought to Russia, said several dozens miracles were registered after venerating the shrine.

As he mentioned at his meeting with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Saturday in Moscow, some women-pilgrims said that they finally got pregnant after unsuccessful attempts during many years.

"After the trip of the Belt to Russia, we'll publish a book about miracles that were performed here," Father Ephraim said.

Meanwhile, a staff-member of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior where the Belt stayed on November 19-28 told an Interfax-Religion correspondent that a man who suffered from cancer recovered after his pilgrimage to the Belt of the Holy Virgin.

"It happened several days ago when the Belt was placed on the arc under which believers passed. I accompanied a man, he had cancer at the last stage and doctors even refused to have him operated," he said.

According to him, the next day the man was to be examined. "After examination he called me and said that no cancer was detected," the interviewee of the agency added.
