Father Feodor Konyukhov to climb Mount Everest again, hopes to plant cross

Priest and traveler Feodor Konyukhov decided to equip an expedition to Mount Everest.

"This year it will become 20 years since we climbed Mount Everest as members of the Avtovaz expedition. I'd like to follow this path one more time and climb the top, and if God allowsto set up a small Orthodox cross there," Father Fedor said in his Thursday interview with the Tribuna paper.

There will be four base camps—at the height of 5100 meters, 6400 meters and 7000 meters. Two fully equipped highland camps will be set up on the height of 7800 meters and 8300 meters.

The expedition will be take place from April 10 to June 10.

Thirty years ago, the USSR team first successfully ascended Mount Everest, and the first Russian expedition to Everest did it 20 years ago. Father Feodor was a member of the expedition in 1992. Together with Yevgeny Vinogradsky (Yekaterinburg), he reached the highest peak in the world at 01:15 p.m. on May 11.
