Regular Sunday services for deaf and hearing-impaired people have commenced at the lower Church of Sts. Andrew and Vladimir of the Resurrection Cathedral [which has been under construction since 2007] of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Kiev. The first Divine Liturgy with sign language translations was celebrated there on October 2 and headed by Bishop Varsonofy of Borodyanka, reports Sobor.in.ua.
Student of the Kiev Theological Seminary Taras Shelelyo participated in translating the service into sign language. With the blessing of Bishop Varsonofy from now on a representative of the Kiev Theological Seminary and Academy will participate at every service designed for those hard of hearing.
Sunday Liturgies begin at the Church of Sts. Andrew and Vladimir at 8:00 AM (hours at 7:45 AM).
