Belgium became the first country to legalize euthanasia. More than 1000 Belgians every year make the decision to depart from this world by means of euthanasia in accordance with the existing statute in the country.
Meanwhile, supporters of euthanasia state that the law does not provide for the possibility of euthanasia for children with grave and incurable diseases.
The bill, proposed for consideration by the Belgian parliamentarians, will give doctors the opportunity to take life of people, suffering from dementia, with consent of their family members.
