Discussions took place at the Phanar on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 12-13, between the two sides of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, which until yesterday had been in dissension following the resignation of the emeritus Metropolitan Krystof. His Eminence Metropolitan John of Pergamon (Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople) chaired the talks.
After the discussions, Metropolitan Rastislav was recognized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate as Primate of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.
According to the Romfea.gr News Agency, Metropolitan Rastislav has formally apologized for his statements against the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek people, thus decisively influencing the solving of the problem that the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia had been facing.
It should also be noted that the relations between Metropolitan Rastislav and Metropolitan Simeon of Brno and Olomuc, who had been recognized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate as canonical locum tenens of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, have also been restored.
