On 30 September 2016, on the Feast of St Gregory the Illuminator, His Eminence Archbishop Irénée served the inaugural Divine Liturgy at the newly constructed Holy Transfiguration Hermitage situated near Lone Butte BC.
The brotherhood had been working since April, assisted by the skilled help of local and out of province clergy, without whom the project simply would not have been completed on time. Throughout the entire process, God’s sustaining hand was also made manifest through the prayerful support of the Hermitage’s friends and benefactors. The monks express their immense gratitude to all of those who contributed in work, prayer and financial support. Their generosity will never be forgotten, as their names have been inscribed in the diptychs of the Hermitage and, certainly, in God’s Book of Life.
The Rule of the Hermitage remains dedicated to a life of solitude, work and prayer. The only visitors permitted are clergy on retreat and serious monastic candidates seeking to join the brotherhood.
