With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, in the year marking the 1000th anniversary of repose of the Holy Prince Vladimir of Kiev, Equal-to-the-Apostles, and the 70th anniversary of Russia’s victory in the Great Patriotic War (World War II), a procession of the cross, “Sevastopol – Kerch – Smolensk” will be held with support of the Synodal Department for Relations between the Church and Society.
The cross procession participants will leave Sevastopol on April 26, following the Divine Liturgy at the St. Vladimir’s Cathedral, reports the press service of the Sevastopol Deanery on Friday.
The faithful will visit more than 70 settlements of the Crimea, Kuban, the Rostov, Voronezh, Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, and Smolensk regions.
Arrival to the city of Smolensk is scheduled for August 8 – right before the feast-day of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God (commemorated on July 28/August 10).
