An attempt was made recently to rob Gornensky Convent in Jerusalem.
"The assailants broke into the administrative building after switching off the alarm system and security cameras," the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem said on its website.
"The damage could have been serious if a nun had not noticed the intruders and raised the alarm, scaring them away. Police are investigating," the posting says.
A similar attempt to rob the convent was made on January 1, when three people attempted to enter the administrative building. But they, too, were noticed and scared away. The intruders had managed to cut electricity cables and break the door of the storeroom.
