Russian President Dimitry Medvedev congratulated all Orthodox Christians and citizens of Russia with the feast of Christ's Nativity, reports the Presidential website.

The President and his wife attended the Christmas service in the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow.

"The Nativity feast turns our attention to the enduring values of goodness and love," the Russian President states in his message. "They have for centuries served to strengthen the moral foundation and unity of the Russian nation. They have always helped Russia to get through all manner of trials, and to preserve peace and unity in our land.

"These values are the foundation of a peaceful, constructive life in our society even during the modern era, and will continue to be so in the development of Russia in the future.

"May Christmas give you assurance in your own strength, and grant you joy and hope."
