A roadside billboard campaign raising awareness of Islam has been launched in San Francisco, reports the SlavicSac.com website. “Muhammad, peace be upon him, believed in peace, social justice, and women rights,” a billboard reads.
The action is a part of the “WhoisMuhammad” nationalwide program. The campaign has been organized by The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), an American organization based in New York City.
Eight billboards have appeared in the Bay Area. They invite drivers to visit the Why Islam website and to learn more about the Muslim faith.
The “WhoisMuhammad” program locations include Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, Stockton, Castro Valley, and Santa Clara. Such billboards will also be installed in Los Angeles and other large cities across the United States, reports Islam Today.
