Moscow, August 19, 2015
Head of the Moscow branch of the Union of Orthodox Citizens Kirill Frolov addressed Moscow Prosecutor Sergey Kudeneyev to examine the exhibition The Sculptures We Do Not Seeheld in Manege.
"On August 14, 2015, on the day when the Assumption Fast, holy for all Orthodox believers, began, I visited this exhibition. When I saw certain exhibits, my religious feelings were insulted by their evident provocateur character as the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Virgin and some saints were depicted with elements of pornography," Frolov said in his address to the Prosecutor.
A copy of the document was conveyed to Interfax-Religion on Tuesday.
If there are violations of the law, the author asks the Prosecutor to take measures, close the exhibition and prosecute its organizers.
Head of the State Duma Committee on Affairs of Public Associations and Religious Organizations Yaroslav Nilov (the Liberal Democratic Party) had earlier addressed Russian General Prosecutor's Office asking to check actions of activists, who smashed the exhibits, and organizers of the exhibition in order to clear out if they violated the law.
