Recognizing the important work of the St Andrew Society in their charitable and humanitarian efforts during these last 25 years, CAAU has contributed $15,000 (over 4 years) towards supporting soup kitchens and food bank centers in Kyiv, Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky, Chernihiv, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and most recently in Mariupol near the conflict zone in the Donbas region.
SaintAndrew’sUkrainianOrthodox Society was founded in 1990 by the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA as a religious and charitable organization of the UOC of the USA. As an integral ministry of the Church, the Society’s philanthropic mission focuses on providing humanitarian assistance to the needy and supporting church-related projects in Ukraine. Since its founding, the Society has raised over 1.3 million dollars towards the support of religious, educational and humanitarian projects.
In addition to partnering with the St Andrew Society, CAAU has been involved in many humanitarian projects in Ukraine. Some of the highlights of CAAU’s activities include: bringing thousands of much-needed wheelchairs and other mobility devices to Ukraine (with Wheels for Humanity / United Cerebral Palsy); helping train Ukrainian Pediatricians and Neonatologists in the U.S.A. and Poland; providing support for those on the front lines and to causalities of the Donbass conflict zone. Finally, CAAU has been proud to support various orphanages and the Orphans’ Little League Championship in Ukraine.
For these and many other projects, in 2015, the Association of Philanthropist Ukraine named CAAU one of the best philanthropic organizations providing assistance to Ukraine. CAAU is proud to contribute to and support St. Andrew Society's valuable work in Ukraine.
